Union Basics for Farm Employees in Spanish

New York's Agricultural Workforce Development Council is hosting a webinar for all farm employees. See notice in English and Spanish below. Employers are asked to set up the webinar in breakrooms and meeting areas to help employees gain access.

Union organizers are aggressively contacting farm employees all across New York. Many farm employees are unfamiliar with unions and not sure what to do. New York's Ag Workforce Development Council will host Dr. Bob Ceglowski, consulting veterinarian and trusted advisor to dairy employees and managers, to discuss farm unions in a webinar delivered in Spanish. Topics will include: what unions are, the meaning and obligation of signing a union card, why farm employees may or may not want a union, and clarifying rumors and misinformation that are currently circulating in the farm community.

This year's event will be at Engelbert Farms in Nichols, NY. Parking for the event will be at Kirby Park. Cornell Agricultural Workforce Development's series of supervisory leadership courses help farm supervisors and managers learn and apply human resource management practices and leadership skills that foster rewarding workplaces and drive business results. After the completion of this Course 1, all participants will receive a certificate of completion that will be one step closer to completing the 6-course series for the Leadership Certificate.

The workshop will utilize demonstrations and hands-on activities with the life-size cow and calf fetus models, as well as many common tools used during difficult calf deliveries.  Registration fees-$50 pp, lunch included. The program will run from 10:00 am -2:30 pm. Topics will include: Delivering the Calf, Stage of Labor & Calving Tools, Neonatal Management, and Postpartum Care.

This workshop will be delivered in the SPANISH language and will be limited to 10 participants. Registration will be on a first-come, first-serve basis. Don't wait!
