Join NMPF and the National Dairy FARM Program for a webinar discussing highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) in dairy cattle, offering the most up-to-date information on the rapidly evolving animal health issue. The session will include updates from USDA about their investigation, as well as an on-the-ground report from a field veterinarian working with affected cows. The session will also explore the virus's transmission, the significance of reporting infected animals, and identification and treatment protocols. Practical strategies to safeguard the health of dairy cattle via biosecurity measures will also be discussed.

Jamie Jonker, PhD is NMPF's Chief Science Officer and Vice President of Sustainability and Scientific Affairs. Jonker is NMPF's lead scientific expert on dairy issues ranging from animal health and sustainability to dairy farm biosecurity, air and water quality and more.

Mark Lyons, DVM is the Director of Ruminant Health for USDA's Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service and the National Incident Coordinator for HPAI in dairy cattle. Prior to joining USDA in 2016, Lyons worked for the Ohio Department of Agriculture. He received his Bachelor's degree and DVM from Ohio State. Fred Gingrich, DVM focuses primarily on dairy practice and owns Country Roads Veterinary Services, Inc., in Ashland, Ohio where he has practiced for 19 years .He has been actively involved with the American Association of Bovine Practitioners for many years, and currently serves as its executive director.

Brandon Treichler, DVM is the quality control veterinarian with Select Milk Producers where his practice focuses on the areas of milk quality, animal care, antimicrobial stewardship, food safety and worker safety. Brandon is active in the AVMA Animal Agriculture Liaison Committee where he serves as the Vice Chairperson.

Danelle Bickett-Weddle, DVM, MPH, PhD, DACVPM is a veterinarian with over 25 years of experience promoting livestock health through action. She contributed to the development of the Secure Milk and Beef Supply Plans and more recently, she consulted with NMPF in the creation of the FARM Biosecurity resources. 

Karen Jordan, DVM and her husband, Norman, own and operate Brush Creek Swiss Farms, a Dairy Farmers of America member farm. Karen also operates Large Animal Veterinary Services with most of her career focused on dairy herd health. Karen is the chairperson of NMPF's Animal Health and Wellbeing Committee.

This session is specifically intended for dairy farmers, including FARM Program participants, cooperative staff and associate members affiliated with NMPF. NMPF and the FARM Program reserve the right to deny participation in this webinar to non-members and non-program participants.
